Customs high ups pay tribute to retiring DG Imtiaz Khan

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Customs Member Nasir Masroor paid tribute to outgoing Customs Intelligence Director General Imtiaz Ahmad Khan for producing outstanding performance and bridging gap between collectorates and directorates.

He was speaking at farewell parties organised by the Customs Intelligence and Customs North Region separately in honour of the DG Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, who retired from service on October 4, 2016.

Customs North Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib, HRM Member Rozi Khan Burki, Administration Member Muhammad Majid Qureshi, Customs Chief Akhlaq Ahmad Khattak, Director Saleem Ahmad Ranjha, Adjudication Collector Dr Akhtar Hussain, Collector Qurban Ali Khan, Gilgit-Baltistan Collector Muhammad Ali Raza, Rawalpindi Customs Intelligence Director Nasrullah, Additional Director Abdul Waheed Marwat, Deputy Director Khaldun ul Haq and others attended the parties and presented gifts to the DG.

The retiring DG set an example of high-level performance, which will lead and motivate the other officers of the department, the Customs member expressed, adding that Imtiaz played an important role to streamline the service of customs and excise.

During his tenure, the results of the department surpassed all expectations, as it made the FBR able to exceed the revenue targets during last fiscal year, he said. Tolerance, problem solving are the key qualities possessed by Imtiaz Khan, the member said. On the farewell party, he also extended best wishes for his post-retirement life.

Customs North Chief Collector Sarwat Tahira Habib said that Imtiaz Khan was found very amicable to everyone in his personal and official life and he proved his goodness in the department.

The FBR required men like Imtiaz, who worked a lot for the welfare of FBR officials, the chief collector said, adding that the board should take steps for the well-being of the officials. She also urged FBR Chairman Nisar Khan to focus on the development and welfare of the staff.

DG Imtiaz also spoke on the event and expressed his feeling on the time of his retirement. “I earned respect and identification due to my service for the FBR,” he said, adding that it all came true with the help of his colleagues. He also thanked Chairman Nisar for supporting him during his service.

“I got cooperation from collectorates and directorates to eliminate the issues held by officials of both sides,” he said, adding, “I directed them not to interfere in the working of each other”. Such efforts helped bridge gap between the departments.

Islamabad Customs Collector Dr Arslan Subuctageen in his speech highlighted the 30 years of services of retiring DG, adding that he spent whole service in his own style in a most appropriate and diligent manners.

Imtiaz has been president of Customs Officers Association when he had to face various challenges, the collector said. He paid a rich tribute to his humble, friendly, compassionate, professional abilities and his untiring efforts in the expansion of the department.

Customs Intelligence Headquarters Director Muhammad Saleem said that outgoing DG took various initiatives for betterment of the department.

During his tenure, not only good relations were restored with the collectorates but joint operations were also conducted against the smuggling, he informed.
