Customs House Peshawar outperforms by plugging leakage of revenue collection: Gul Rahman

PESHAWAR: The Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar has generated Rs3465.29million revenue from July 1 to August 31 FY 2017-18.

According to station-wise progressive revenue collections in the current FY, the Torkham Customs Station collected more revenue than other stations.

This was stated by Collector Customs Gul Rahman at the Customs House Peshawar while giving an exclusive interview to Customs Today on Thursday.

The Collector Customs lauded the performance of the Customs staff for collecting valuable revenue by expanding the monthly collection of current FY2017-18 to reach the target of achievement in the current month of September.

Collector Gul Rahman also said that the Customs House Peshawar from July till August 2017-18 did a remarkable duty by stopping the leakage in revenue collection of the national exchequer.

The Collector Customs informed Customs Today that the MCC Peshawar generated Rs3465.29million revenue from all the connecting Customs Stations with Peshawar Customs during two months. The MCC Peshawar received Rs1238.65million of CD in which Rs90.91million revenue was done by auctioning off miscellaneous goods and Rs108.03million revenue was collected as RD.

The MCC Peshawar generated Rs765.15million revenue by getting ST applied on items during the same time period of two months in the current Financial Year 2017-18. The MCC Peshawar earned Rs108.48million revenue as ST on VM imports and Rs428.87million revenue was done from ST on VM Palm Oil during the same time period of two months in the current FY.

The MCC Peshawar was able to collect an amount of Rs887.48million revenue as Total AIT during two months of current FY in which Rs681.95million revenue was done as AIT on goods while Rs205.53million revenue was collected as AIT Export.

The Customs House Peshawar received Federal Excise Duty of Rs38.66million during the same time period from July till August FY 2017-18.

According to a further detail, the Torkham Customs Station received an amount of Rs1325.87million as revenue in the recent two months of current Financial Year.

The Dry Port Peshawar collected Rs1109.50million during the aforesaid time period from July till August. Collector Gul Rahman appreciated the Deputy Collector Dry Port Peshawar for directing the staff to eradicate corruption and smuggling.

The Bond Ware House at Customs House Peshawar earned an amount of Rs481.38million during the same time period from July till August.

The Hazara Customs Station got an amount of Rs361.82million in the same time period.

Kohat-SWH received an amount of Rs63.13million from July till August. The AFU Peshawar generated an amount of Rs29.70 during the same time period from July 1 till 31 August for which duties’ collection of Deputy Collector Customs at the Customs House Peshawar was lauded by the Collector Customs at MCC Peshawar.

The Gadoon Customs Station received Rs29.81million in the corresponding period of two months of FY 2017-18. The State Ware House Peshawar earned an amount of Rs27.40million during the same time period from July till August of current FY 2017-18.

Collector Gul Rahman also said that the PRO to Collector Customs has been changed and now Peer Naeem has been performing the duties for the last few days while other Customs staff has also been reshuffled after he has taken over the charge at Customs House Peshawar.

The ASO Peshawar has impounded four NDP cars in September which value millions of rupees along with other goods which will be auctioned to generate extra revenue.
