Customs Hyderabad lodges FIR against M/s Huffaz Seamless Pipe Ltd for dishonoring of cheques

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer to complete investigations and submit progress report against Hafiz Abdul Majeed, CEO/ Director of M/s Huffaz Seamless Pipe Limited for dishonoring of cheques on account of duty and taxes.

On 5 October2020, investigation officer of Customs Hyderabad submitted first information report (FIR) and submits that CEO of M/s Huffaz Seamless Pipe Limited holding private bonded warehouse was furnished an under-taking dated June 29, 2020 along with two post dated cheques of Rs3,000,000 each total of Rs6,000,000 on account of duty and taxes subject to presentation in the bank for encashment, on August 25, 2020 the cheque are returned by the bank with the return memo’s having remarks that insufficient fund in drawer account/ stop payment.

He further submitted that the dishonoring of cheques is violation of section 32, 32 A of the customs act, 1969 which is punishable under clause 14, 14A and 95A of section 156 and relevant section of the act ibid and codes to be invoked to anytime.

He stated that further investigation would be conducted by the investigation and prosecution branch of the MCC FIR is lodged accordingly.

After the hearing court taken FIR into record and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit progress report on next date of hearing.

Case was registered against the above-mentioned suspect complainant by Junaid Ahmed Memon, inspector of customs MCC Hyderabad.
