Customs I &I seizes non-custom duty paid scrap

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized imported ball bearings and scrap loaded on a truck here on Friday.

The scrap was in a bulk quantity and ball bearings were in the garb of the various goods of iron scrap. The total weight of scrap was 104 ton whose custom duty was not paid.

The truck was coming from Quetta and its destination was Lahore but it was confined near Khanewal Road, Lahore bypass. The scrap and ball bearings were loaded at a vehicle of private goods transport company. The operation was conducted by the Customs Intelligence and Investigation on a tip-off and a special team was formed under the supervision of Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan.

The special team conducted raid at the loaded truck and seized the material. The owner of the vehicle remained unable to provide any conclusive evidence of imported ball bearings and scrap. After lodging the first information report, further investigations were underway.
