Customs I&I confiscates Rs3776.095m smuggled goods & items

LAHORE: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has confiscated Rs3776.095 million smuggled goods and items to date making seizures valuing Rs762.910 million during the month of February 2021.
The performance comprises both range office Lahore and Gujranwala.

The ASO of l&1-Customs, Lahore, so far during the current fiscal year, has made seizures worth of Rs3776.095 million by framing 181 seizures. In addition to ASO performance, the Enforcement branch also performed exceptionally well when compared to last year performance.

During the month of February 2021, the Enforcement branch made out 6 cases involving Rs. 787.050 million as duty and taxes.

It is relevant to share that Enforcement branch of l&1-Customs, Lahore so far in the ensuing fiscal year has made contravention/seizure cases worth Rs2,966.193 million as duty and taxes by framing 64 contraventions /seizures.
It is relevant to mention here that the Directorate rendered unremitting and strenuous efforts to intercept the smuggling of contraband goods and vehicles despite the fact that the Directorate has shortage of human and financial resources.

The sources said that on the strict directions of director Asad Raza Rizvi the directorate has adopted zero tolerance policy against smuggling activities in the region while additional director Hassan Freed is leading from the front to implement the policy under the limits of the directorate.
