Customs I&I facing space shortage for seized items & vehicles

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) facing short of place for parking the seized goods and items.

The place in the Customs I&I office has gone insufficient to park further confiscated items and vehicles as the cases of the goods and vehicles impounded by Customs Intelligence and Investigation have taken long time.

Over five containers are parked outside the premises of the customs regional office Lahore due to the shortage of the place.

The official sources said that goods and items are auctioned regularly but due to the cases pending in the courts such goods and articles cannot be auctioned.

Meanwhile, Customs team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) impounded four bottles of wine from a passenger who was ready to depart for Bangkok.

As per sources the Customs authorities on suspension intercepted a Chinese citizen who was leaving to Bangkok and recovered four bottles of liquor.

The Customs sources said after investigation the passengers was allowed to leave after surrendering the bottles. The passenger Loie Liyang was travelling by TG 346 Thai Airline.
