Customs I&I foils bid to smuggle goods worth Rs10m from Multan to Lahore

LAHORE: On a special tip-off regarding smuggling of goods belonging to smuggler Haji Sadiq from Multan to Lahore, they have adopted  new modus-operandi of switching bilties and establishing new storage and godowns in South Punjab, a team of  Custom Intelligence Lahore was constituted in supervision of Additional Director  Hassan Farid to intercept vehicles using different routes to access Lahore markets.

Sources said that on the directions of Director Saima Aftab, Deputy Director Ali Asad along with his teams were successful in intercepting 4 trucks full of fabric suiting & furnishing, tyres, seesha flavors during the night of 29-30/10/2021 from different locations like Okara, Pattoki and Kasur and also arrested 3 persons. The approximate value of smuggled goods is Rs10 million.

It’s is pertinent to mention here that due to heavy losses inflicted by joint operations of Custom Intelligence along with Custom Enforcement Lahore the smugglers are forced to adopt  aforementioned strategy and they are now avoiding to bring smuggled goods in Lahore on 40 feet containers and prefer to have storage out of jurisdiction of these formations .
