Customs I&I foils bid to smuggle goods worth Rs16.35m from Karachi to Lahore

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team seized smuggled goods worth Rs16.45 million from train wagon from Badami Bagh.

Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saima Aftab received credible information that huge quantity of smuggled goods will be transported from Karachi to Lahore.

She immediately directed additional director, to take all necessary measures to thwart any attempt of smuggling. Customs Intelligence and Investigation team comprising Intelligence Officer Sohail Murtaza and Intelligence Officer Muhammad Fazal intercepted a train wagon near Badami Bagh and during thorough checking recovered 1786 kilograms of gents suiting, fire cracker 22 cartons, 50 auto parts of different brands. The total value of smuggled goods is Rs16.35.

It is necessary to mention here that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saima Aftab has directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. She directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
