KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) recovered huge quantity of smuggle fabric, air-conditioners, betel nuts, cigarettes through passenger buses. The value of the sized goods and buses is approximately Rs77.4 million.
Sources told Customs Today that Director-General Faiz Ahmad Chadhar received credible information about smuggling of goods from Quetta to Karachi through passenger buses. He directed Director Customs II&I Saquif Saeed to use all available resources to thwart any attempt of smuggling.
A Customs Intelligence and Investigation team was formed under the supervision of Deputy Director Inamullah Wazir which also includes Additional Director Nausheen Faisal and Afzal Wattoo.
The Customs Intelligence and Investigation enhanced monitoring of vehicles and successfully intercepted three passenger buses near Babar Kanta Haroonabad. These buses were coming from Quetta to Karachi.
These buses were loaded with smuggled foreign origin goods including fabric, ACs, guthka, betel nuts, cigarettes, washing powder and other miscellaneous goods.
FIR has been registered in the Custom Court and three persons have been arrested. Investigation is underway.
