Customs I&I foils bid to smuggle narcotics worth Rs1.6b

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of narcotics, a 9MM pistol and a fishing boat worth Rs1.6 billion during an intelligence based operation (IBO).

Sources said that information was passed through Director Saqif Saeed to Deputy Director Amjad Hussain Rajpar regarding smuggling of narcotics through a boat.

A team was constituted comprising Intelligence Officer Suha Siddiqui, Intelligence Officer Liaqat Ali, Intelligence Officer Irshad Ali and Humeruddin to foil the attempt. Subsequently, a stateless fishing boat was intercepted, and examination led to recovery of 109KG Crystal Meth, 111KG Brown Heroin, 13.25KH hashish  and a 9MM pistol (Zigana). The valuie of the seized goods including the boat comes to Rs1.6 billion.

It is necessary to mention here that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saqif Saeed directed all anti-smuggling squads to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. He directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.
