LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotics.
Sources told Customs Today that on 16.01.2019, in pursuance of a secret information Customs I&I team intercepted a car bearing registration number MNA-07-5391 on motorway and recovered 8.5 kilograms prime chars and 1.3 kilogram opium.
The accused person who was later identified as Abdul Sattar who transporting the narcotics has been arrested. Narcotics were found in the cavity created in the fuel tank of the vehicle.
On initial investigations, it transpired that chars was being smuggled from Peshawar to Lahore. Market value of the seized narcotics is approximately Rs15 million. Further investigations of the case are still underway till the filing of this report.
