MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan seized a truck loaded with imported used tyres worth Rs1 million and imported Iranian bed sheets worth Rs1 million in two separate occurrences.
As per detail, the Customs I&I intercepted a truck (TKP-512) near Khanewal Toll Plaza and recovered 520 used imported tyres from it.
In another action, the Customs I&I seized imported Iranian bed sheets being transported to Lahore from Quetta. The bed sheets owner Abdul Zahid attempted to dodge the Customs but the authorities foiled the bid.
The 90 bed sheets measuring 7,000 square feet and worth more than one million rupees was being smuggled through a bus.
Acting on a tip-off, Additional Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Nisar Ahmad constituted a team led by Inspector Sheikh Muhammad Arshad which thwarted the smuggling attempt.
Customs I&I Additional Director Nisar Ahmad said that the department was well aware of its responsibilities and would foil any smuggling attempt through timely action.
Moreover, he informed that both the seized goods would be worth Rs2 million.
