LAHORE: Anti-Smuggling team of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has seized Toyota Hiace Van loaded with 77 rolls of illegally imported cloth at Shera Kot.
Official sources told Customs Today that on a tip-off of Customs Additional Director Mohsin Rafique the I&I Customs team under the supervision of superintendent of Customs Nasir Minhas raided the vehicle and seized cloth worth Rs 20,04805 involving duty and taxes worth Rs 9,2370.
Meanwhile in another operation of the Customs I&I nabbed 22 bags of garments laces at the Railways Station.
The Customs Authorities valued the Indian made garments at Rs 10, 50000 involving duty and taxes worth Rs 575000.
In yet another action against the smugglers the Customs I&I team impounded truck no TKX-341 loaded with illegally imported 45,000 kg iron scarp and Iranian tiles.
The Customs I&I has initiative an aggressive campaign against the smugglers on the special directives of Customs Intelligence and Investigation DG Lutfullah Virk.
In order to expedite the campaign the DG yesterday had meeting with the additional directors of Lahore and Gujranwala at the Lahore Office and reviewed the planning of the officers against the smuggling activities and instructed them to make it more fruitful.
