LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) Lahore has seized 240 sacks of non-duty paid Indian spices (zeera) worth Rs 10 million.
Sources told Customs Today that the Customs Intelligence and Investigation team intercepted a truck loaded with Indian zeera. The truck was coming from Rawalpindi through Sheikhupura Road and was heading towards Akbari Mandi Lahore.
The sources said that the zeera was to be supplied to M/s Kashmir Traders at Akbari Mandi. Sources said that the ASO team intercepted the truck on the information of director and the raiding team was led by Deputy Director Zeb Ali Khan.
The official sources said that the Customs I&I, on the direction of Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Rubab Sikandar, conducted a number of successful raids and seized non-customs paid items and vehicles worth millions of rupees. Sources said that Director Rubab Sikandar has directed all customs teams to adopt zero tolerance policy towards smuggling.
