Customs I&I impounds illegally imported BMW, 50 cartons of cigarettes

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations impounded banned cigarettes and non-customs paid vehicles worth millions of rupees, sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that the Customs I&I impounded two vehicles including BMW from Abdul Kareem and Honda Civic from Babar Javaid.

The accused were driving the vehicles on fake number plates, the sources said, adding that the vehicles were detained from Gulberg Main Market.

Similarly, in another operation in Shah Alam Market, the customs authorities impounded 50 cartons of illegally imported cigarettes.

The sources said that the cigarettes were to be sold city wide in Lahore and the authorities undertook crackdown and foiled the bid to dump the illegally imported cigarettes.

The sources said that the customs authorities have jacked up anti-smuggling crackdowns on the directions of the newly posted Director Customs Intelligence and Investigations Zeba Hai Azha.

It was said that the customs authorities after registering separate cases have started further investigations into the cases.
