LAHORE: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Lahore on Wednesday seized a Toyota Hilux Surf worth Rs 1.7 million near FC College, Gulberg.
The Customs sources told Customs Today that on secret information the car cell of the directorate intercepted a Toyota Hilux BD/7554 and demanded legal documents from the driver.
However, the driver, who introduced himself as Qadeer Abbas, son of Liaqat Abbas, a resident of FC College Colony, failed to show any relevant documents.
It was said that the vehicle was being operated on fake documents and finally the customs authorities confiscated it in the name of the state.
It was reported that the customs authorities have launched an aggressive campaign against the smuggled vehicles to curtail smuggling so that the local industry could flourish and employment opportunities could be generated and protected legal business.
The Customs I&I Car Cell operated on the directions of Director Saud Imran Ahmad under the guidance of Superintendent Yasin Malik.
Others who took part in the crackdown included Rao Mansoor, Agha Sultan Haider, Sharafat Ali Hawaladar and PA Maqsood.
The sources said that the customs authorities after registering the case have initiated further investigation. The case has been registered under Customs Act 1969.
