Customs I&I impounds non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs29m

LAHORE: Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation–FBR, seized 11 non-duty paid/smuggled vehicles worth Rs. 29 million sources told Customs Today.

The sources said that the Customs I&I car cell impounded Toyota Land Cruiser, Prado, Hilux Surf, BMW, Mercedes Benz car, Mark-X, Premio, Crown, Honda Civic, Honda Accord and Vitz car during July 2016 to December 2016.

The sources said that the luxury vehicles were impounded on the instructions of Deputy Collector Ali Zeb Khan while the operations were conducted against the smugglers on the directions of Director of Customs Intelligence Zeba Hai Azhar.

The sources said that the non duty paid vehicles were seized from various places and areas in Lahore including Ravi Road, Gulberg, Defence, Allama Iqbal Town, Green Town, Ichra, Anarkali, The Mall and Cantonment Board.

The sources said that the Customs I&I car cell after registering a case against the accused parties started investigations in to the cases.

The raiding team were constituted by Director Intelligence and Investigations Zeba Hai Azhar, while Deputy Director Ali Zeb Khan supervised and Superintendent Amjad Ali Malik, Intelligence Officer Akmal Shehbaz, Intelligence Officer Agha Sultan, Intelligence Officer Iftikhar Ahmed and Intelligence Officer Muhammad Mubeen Malik were also part of the teams.
