Customs I&I plans crackdown against smuggled, non-duty paid vehicles

KARACHI: Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation has started filing up the record of the last six months activities.

According to the sources, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has asked the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation to submit a brief report on the activities held during the last six months.

The sources told Customs Today that the FBR has asked the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation to launch a crackdown against smuggled and non-duty paid vehicles in different cities. The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has devised a plan to start checking of vehicles on roads in the different cities, sources.

As per the plan prepared by the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, the ASO will launch crackdown on the National Highway, Super Highway and at the borders of Quetta, Sukkhur and Hyderabad, the sources said.

On the other hand, the sources asserted that Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) will also be deputing the officers in the different localities within the Karachi, Hyderabad as well as Quetta.

The officers of the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) will also be investigating the specific showrooms in the three cities Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur as well as Quetta with regards to the smuggled and non duty paid vehicles, the source maintained.
