Customs I&I recovers huge quantity of non-duty paid shoes near Saggian bridge

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&) detained two containers and recovered huge quantity of foreign origin joggers and shoes near Saggian Bridge. These shoes were being supplied to Shah Alam Market.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Customs I&I Usman Tariq received credible information about some smuggling attempts. He immediately constituted a raiding team under the supervision of Superintendent Mohammad Sarwar which also includes Intelligence Sarwar Bhatti, Zulfiqar Ali Dogar, Sohail Murtaza, Agha Sultan Haider, Hamid Babar and Nadeem Ahsan.

The customs I&I team intercepted two containers near Saggian Bridge and recovered 1,264 cartons of Iranian origin joggers shoes. The drivers of both containers failed to produce any legal documents regarding import and transportation of these shoes.

During initial investigation they told that these containers were cleared by one Mohammad Waseem from Quetta for onward supply to a trader Karim Khan of Shah Alam Market Lahore. Customs Intelligence and Investigation detained both containers and started further investigations.
