Customs I&I seizes narcotics worth Rs45m from July to Dec 10

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations, in countrywide operations, seized narcotics worth Rs45 million from July to December 10, 2018.

Sources at Customs Chief Enforcement of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) told Customs Today that from July to December 10, 2018, the Customs staff showed outstanding performance in border areas and seized huge quantity of different type of narcotics, including hashish, opium, heroin, poppy straw and amphetamine.

During the corresponding period, the customs authorities seized 890.300kg hashish, 4.250kg opium, 19.640kg heroin, while 1800kg poppy straw and 1200kg crushed poppy and 1000kg amphetamine.

Sources said that during different operations against narcotics smuggling, the Customs staff arrested 72 suspected smugglers.

It is necessary to mention here that after assuming the charge as Director-General Customs Intelligence and Investigations Zahid Khokhar directed the customs staff to adopt zero tolerance policy against narcotics smugglers.
