Customs I&I seizes smuggled goods worth Rs71.38m during anti-smuggling drive

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) has seized huge quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs71.38 million during on-going anti-smuggling drive.

Sources said that on the directives of Director Saqif Saeed, Additional Director Umer Shafiq and Deputy Director Amjad Rajpar, the staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs Karachi operated at four different places during last 24  hours and  seized  huge quantity  of smuggled foreign origin fabrics, betel nuts, Iranian origin food products, non-duty-paid (NDP) vehicles including Toyota Land cruiser.

The aggregate value of goods comes to Rs71.38 million. The recovered goods have been detained for further investigation.

It is necessary to mention here that Customs Intelligence and Investigation has adopted comprehensive strategy against smuggling. Customs I&I enhanced patrolling and monitoring in their respective jurisdictions.
