Customs I&I submits FIR against M/s SA Traders & M/s Chess Shipping & Logistics in mis-declaration scam

KARACHI: The Customs Court directed investigation officer of Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation to complete investigation and submit progress report against Sohail Habib Bhagat of M/s SA Traders, Muhammad Khurram Dawood & Faisal Tbani partners of M/s Chess Shipping & Logistics (Pakistan) and others, who were nominated in first information report (FIR) mega mis-declaration scam.

On 10 October 2020, investigation officer submitted first information report (FIR) and informed that suspects imported goods and declared as used CPU Core 2 Duo without hard disk with LCD, monitor of assorted brands/ used CPU Core 2 duo with hard disk with LCD. Monitor of assorted brands/ used with hard disk with LCD and other goods.

He further informed that during the search, customs officials found used all in one computer system assorted brands, used mouse assorted brands, LCD screen panels assorted sized and brands HP Dell brand used CPU Core 2 duo and others.

He stated that during the investigation, it has been established that above mentioned suspect and other associates-in-crime have indulging in deliberated and engineered mis-declaration of quantity and HS Code of the actual goods imported to evade duty and taxes Rs6, 522,836 (customs duty Rs2,634,628) addition customs duty Rs158, 302, Regulatory duty Rs705,052. sales tax Rs1,931,340, additional sales tax Rs. 340,825.

After the hearing, court took FIR into court record and directed investigation officer to complete investigation and submit progress report on next date of hearing.
