Customs IMO seizes 500g heroin worth Rs5m

ISLAMABAD: Customs Collector Seema Raza Bokhari said that Customs Inspector Raja Nasir Rehman along with other customs staff of the IMO Chaklala seized 500 grams of brown heroin powder hidden in four ladies hand bags and the destination of parcel was United Kingdom.

Taking with Customs Today, she said that vigilance was already on high alert at all Customs International Mail offices (IMOs) before Eid as notorious elements could try to do smuggling activities through parcels. The recent parcel was detained by Customs staff of MCC Islamabad during examination of ladies hand bags. The staff seized various packets of heroin powder in brown color.

Telling the details, the Collector said that at about 11:30am during the examination and clearance of export parcels at IMO (International Mail Office) Chaklala Garrison Rawalpindi, a parcel was found suspicious so thorough examination of the parcels led to the recovery of total 500 grams net of brown heroin powder tactfully concealed inside the walls of ladies shoulder bags. Estimated value of seized narcotics in international market is about Rs 5 million.

She said that parcel booking number was CC001843008PK and it was booked by Abdul Mannan, village post office Mtoor, Tehsil Kahuta district Rawalpindi while the parcel was booked for Abdul Hamid 32 Bamford court Half Acre new Rochale UK. Collector Seema said that department has started investigation of said seizure of heroin powder.
