Customs imports fail to get cleared for V-League stint

MANILA: Customs sat out Thai reinforcements Kanjana Kuthaisong and Nattanicha Jaisen after the two failed to secure their International Transfer Certificates in time for their game against Laoag last night in the Shakey’s V-League Season 13-Reinforced Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Curiously, the team had complied with all the requirements except for the ITC, which is the final hurdle for the two Thais to suit up for the Transformers.

In an unexpected turn of events, the access codes that will allow the two to get the ITCs were surprisingly changed.

What is appalling about it was the fact that Pocari’s application for ITCs for their imports Bre Mackie and Andrea Kacsit got theirs and suited up for the Lady Warriors against the Air Force Lady Jet Spikers.

Also, the Phl Superliga got all their reinforcements approved in time for its Grand Prix unfolding on Saturday using the same access code to get their ITCs.

“The BOC (Bureau of Customs) coaching staff, much to our surprise and concern, has been unable to access the Volleyball Information System (VIS) that contains the application of the International Transfer Certificate. Apparently, the access codes provided to LVPI have been denied,” said Ricky Palou of the organizing Sports Vision in a statement.

“With the help of LVPI, we have requested help from the FIVB to resolve this and to ascertain what occurred with access codes. Hopefully, all will be resolved within the next 24 hours,” he said. Customs also played minus Navywomen Pau Soriano and Lillet Mabbayad due to undisclosed reasons.

The development came after the two were banned from the PSL for one year and slapped P50,000 fines for their alleged contract violations.

Despite it, the two suited up for Customs in a 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 win over State U Monday as the duo combined for 18 points.

It was not yet known if some people are harassing Soriano and Mabbayad to prevent them from playing for Customs.
