Customs impounds 100 offending, non duty paid vehicles from July to 15th November 2016-17

ISLAMABAD: Customs Collectorate seized 49 offending vehicle and 51 non duty paid vehicles during 4 and half months of Financial Year from 1st July to 15th November 2016-17. Total 100 vehicles are seized under value of Rs141.6 million.

According to details told by Deputy Collector Shahid Jan the performance of Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) and car cell of Preventive department was  satisfactory during first four and half months of current Financial Year 2016-17.

He added that during first four and half month of FY16-17 the car cell seized 51 non duty paid vehicles, the quantity showed that car cell performed very well.

Shahid Jan said that Customs Islamabad is following the instruction given by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the ASO and car cell performing their duties with full devotion and got handsome figure of revenue during first four and half months of 2016-17.

He said that car cell confiscated different type of NDP vehicles during the above said period i.e. Toyota Corolla, Vitz half cut cars, Suzuki pick ups half cut, Mercedes cars, Toyota Hiace vans, Toyota Surf, Toyota Prado etc.

He said that trend of smuggling in buses is more than other vehicles, adding that during July 2016-17 to 15th November 2016-17 the ASO impounded 49 offending vehicles under value of Rs.55550000, to impound a offending vehicles is very important to discourage the smuggling trends, the offending vehicles playing central role to promote smuggling activities.

He told that ASO seized different kind of offending vehicles during different seizers of smuggled goods i.e. Hino trucks, Isuzu trucks, passenger busses, Bedford trucks, pick ups , Toyota Hiace, Toyota cars, Mercedes Benz cars etc.

He said that car cell is working very efficiently under supervision of Collector Dr. Arslan who was given an appreciation call on showing a good performance after completion of first 4 and half month of financial year 2016-17.
