Customs impounds three non-duty paid vehicles during AJK polls campaign

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate Islamabad’s anti-smuggling car cell impounded three non-customs paid (NDP) vehicles during Kashmir election campaign in the last three days.

Sources told Customs Today that the customs authorities received secret information that some non-duty paid vehicles are being used in election campaign of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The sources said that during the last three day the anti-smuggling car cell seized Toyota Hiace van bearing registration no. LIT-9940, model 1987, Toyota Corolla car bearing registration no. Z-0586, model 1994 and Toyota Hilux Surf, registration no. UG-005 ICT, model 1995.

It is also learnt that Collector Dr. Arsalan directed anti-smuggling squad to use all available resource to curb the smuggling and to make every effort to discourage the smugglers who are involved in smuggling of non-duty paid vehicles.

When contacted to Deputy Collector Shahid Jan he said that car cell is main source to get considerable revenue through seizure of non-duty paid and offending vehicle. He said that car cell collected reasonable amount in last financial year it was a big contribution to meet the set target by FBR he said.

Shahid Jan also said that during current financial year 2016-17 the car cell will work more efficiently according to directions of Chairman FBR, and hopefully anti smuggling activity will be discourage with iron hands.
