ISLAMABAD: The Mode Customs Collectorate has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Corolla car worth Rs 1.5 million during an action.
As per details, customs officials received credible information that a non-duty paid vehicle is roaming in the G-11 of capital city on which the officials raided the said area and intercepted a Toyota Corolla bearing registration No PD-371.
Later, the officials asked owner of the vehicle to show document regarding legal import of the vehicle, but he could not produce the same. He produced registration book that was also found fake.
Therefore, the customs officials under the supervision of Superintendent Chaudhary Safdar took acion on the spot and impounded the vehicle under Section 16 of the Customs Act, 1969.
The sources said that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued special instructions to customs department for impounding the non-duty paid vehicles without any discrimination.
It is learnt that FIR has been registered against the accused persons and further investigations is under process, the sources said.
