Customs impounds Toyota Prado worth Rs 5.5m

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Collectorate has impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Prado worth Rs 5.5 million.

Collector Dr Arslan told Customs Today that the anti-smuggling car cell received information that a non-duty paid vehicle is roaming in the Capital (Islamabad) with fake documentation.

In pursuance of information the car cell reached G-9/3 area where car was parked. The custom staff intercepted the vehicle Toyota Prado model 2005, registration number E-466, and asked the owner to produce legal documents regarding possession of the vehicle but he failed to show any relevant documents.

After investigation, the anti-smuggling squad impounded the vehicle under Customs Act 1969. The documents of the vehicle have been sent to I&P department for examination.

The Collector said that FBR has issued special instructions to customs department to make appropriate steps to curb smuggling.

The Collector said that FIR has been registered against the evaders against having a fake documents NDP vehicle and further investigations is under process.
