Customs Inspector censured over unauthorised absence

ISLAMABAD: Abrar Ahmed, Inspector Preventive Service (BS-16), posted at Model Customs Collectorate of Preventive, Karachi, has been censured over his unauthorised absence from duty constituting.

The disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the officer under Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973. The accused officer was served a show-cause notice in terms of Rule 2(4) and Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973 and he submitted his defence reply. He was also given personal hearing by the Authorised Officer/Chief (Management-Customs).

The Authorised Officer/Chief (Management-Customs) FBR, after having examined all aspects of the case has therefore, imposed the minor penalty of “censure” upon Abrar Ahmed under rule 4(1)(a)(i) of the Govt. Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973.

The officer’s unauthorised absence from duty for 78 days was ordered to be treated as extra ordinary leave without pay. His performance allowance will also be stopped for 6 months from the date of award of penalty as provided in para 7(ii) of the Performance Allowance Guidelines 2015 and he will have to appear afresh for restoration of the same.
