Abdul Waheed Marwat, Additional Director, Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Islamabad was appointed as inquiry officer to probe into the account of various acts of omission and commission committed by the accused officer constituting ‘inefficiency’, ‘misconduct’ and ‘corruption’.

According to the inquiry report, the charges of ‘inefficiency’ and ‘misconduct’ were partially established against the accused officer. A show-cause notice was issued to the accused officer on August 23, 2016 and he was also called for personal hearing by the authorised officer on October 20, 2016.

After considering the charges framed in the charge sheet, inquiry report, personal hearing and other available record, the accused officer has been found guilty of inefficiency. However, the charges of ‘misconduct and corruption’ could not be established.

The authorised officer, therefore, imposed minor penalty of “withholding of four increments without cumulative effect” upon Khawaja Mazhar Ahmed with effect from December 1, 2016.

However, the official reinstated into service with immediate effect and his period of suspension with effect from June 6, 2016 till date will be treated as leave of kind due as admissible under the rules.
