Customs Inspector Saeed given minor penalty for inefficiency

ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Saeed Akhtar, Inspector, Model Customs Collectorate (Appraisement), Lahore, has been given minor penalty for inefficiency.

The disciplinary proceedings were initiated against the accused officer under Government Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973, while Muhammad Moazzam Raza, Deputy Collector (HQ), MCC, (Appraisement), Lahore was appointed as inquiry officer.

According to the inquiry report, the charge of inefficiency was established against the accused officer. A show-cause notice was issued to the accused officer and he was also called for personal hearing by the authorised officer. After considering the charges framed in the charge sheet, inquiry report and other available record, the accused officer was found guilty of “inefficiency” under rules 3(a) of the Government Servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 1973.

The authorized officer imposed minor penalty of “stoppage of one increment without cumulative effect” upon Saeed Akhtar under rule 4(i)(ii) of the Govt Servants (Efficiency & Discipline) Rules, 1973. However, the official stands reinstated into service with immediate effect and his period of suspension with effect from February 02, 2015 till date, will be treated as leave of kind due as admissible under the rules.

His performance allowance will be stopped for six months from the date of award of the above minor penalty as provided in Para 7(ii) of the Performance Allowance Guidelines, 2015 and he will have to appear afresh for restoration of the same.
