Customs Intelligence and Investigation bifurcated into two directorates

KARACHI: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has bifurcated the existing jurisdiction of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation into two directorates i.e. Intelligence and Investigation Customs Enforcement and Intelligence and Investigation Customs Anti-smuggling, it is learnt here.

Now, the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs Enforcement) would perform anti-evasion work and monitoring of Customs clearances and other related matters in the jurisdiction of Model Customs Collectorate (Appraisement-West), Karachi; Model Customs Collectorate (Appraisement-East), Karachi; Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive), Karachi; Model Customs Collectorate (Port Qasim), Karachi;  Model Customs Collectorate, Hyderabad; Model Customs Collectorate (Exports), Custom House, Karachi and Model Customs Collectorate, (Exports) Port Qasim, Karachi.

While, the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs Anti-Smuggling), Karachi, will perform anti-smuggling and preventive related work in the jurisdiction of Model Customs Collectorate (Preventive), Karachi; Model Customs Collectorate, Hyderabad and Model Customs Collectorate (Port Qasim), Karachi.

The respective offices and officers of the Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation-FBR shall continue to function, exercise powers and discharge duties under section 3-A of the Customs Act, 1969 read with section 3E ibid, notifications and instructions issued there under.
