KARACHI: In the latest development on Bol television channel issue, the Customs Intelligence & Investigation-FBR, Karachi region, has prepared an inventory report regarding the equipment they saw during their visit to Bol channel on last Friday and Saturday.
The authorities have issued a notice under Section 26 and have also asked the channel management to provide a detailed record of the import of foreign origin goods and for this they have been given a time period of few days.
However, till to-date, the BoL management has not provided any details to the Customs I&I who are still waiting for record so that they could proceed further on the case.
Sources close to Customs I&I claimed that they had acquired search warrant under Section 162 from a magistrate before entering the Bol offices. And the impression of getting inside their premises illegally is incorrect, they added further.
It may be mentioned here that a six-member investigation team of Directorate General of Customs Intelligence & Investigation-FBR-Karachi region headed by Director Customs I&I Asif Marghoob Siddiqui raided the head office of the Axact-owned yet-to-be-launched BoL TV channel in Karachi on Friday and Saturday following the expiry of a notice issued to the network.
The team thoroughly examined the equipments and other machinery imported by the group for its media operations during their stay.
The investigation team remained for several hours in the offices of BoL network on the second day of their visit.
The six member investigation team Customs I&I-FBR-Karachi region was headed by Director Customs I&I Asif Marghoob Siddiqui, comprising, Additional Director Nadim Ahsan, In-charge Anti-Smuggling Organisation Haji Aslam, Akmal Hashmi, Munawwar Hussain and Qasim Alvi.
It may be mentioned here that earlier, the Customs I&I officials have summoned three senior executives of BOL Media Group to their offices to explain their point of view over some important queries which had reportedly given a huge loss to the national exchequer. However, the names of these executives were not disclosed as yet.
