Customs Intelligence confiscates, smuggled Indian fabrics, Mazda truck

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has recovered 76 bundles of Indian origin grey fabrics worth Rs 3,200,000 during an action. The Customs team also impounded a Mazda truck worth Rs 500,000.

Sources told Customs Today that following information received through Saud Imran, the director intelligence, the staff of customs Intelligence intercepted a Mazda mini truck bearing registration No LZJ- 6381 near District Jail Road and recovered Indian cloth. The cloth was confiscated under section 2(s), 16 and 18 of the Customs Act 1969.

The driver of the Mazda truck who was identified as Maqsood Ahmed failed to produce any legal documents regarding possession of cloth.

Meanwhile, Additional Collector Azmat Tahira appreciated the performance of intelligence staff. The Customs Intelligence team comprising Suprintendent Muhammad Rafique and Intelligence Officer Naseer Ahmad, Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir, Bashir Hussain, driver Ashiq Hussain, and sepoy Khalil Ahmad, Mukhtar Ahmed, Muhammad Tariq, Muhammad Iqbal participated in the raid.

The customs team after impounding the goods and vehicle forwarded the report to the Customs Adjudication for further legal proceedings.
