Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Anwar forms teams to check sale of smuggled items

SIALKOT: Custom Intelligence and Intelligence, Gujranwala, Deputy Director Muhammad Anwar has formed teams to check shops and markets to trace the persons involved in selling of smuggled goods.

Officials said that the deputy director took this step after getting information regarding the selling of non-duty paid items in local markets depriving the country of revenue. The teams will check the shops and markets to detect the selling of imported items, including cigarettes, juice, etc.

If shopkeepers found involved in this crime, they will be arrested, besides sealing their shops, they said adding that Customs Intelligence will take stern action against them to discourage the smuggling.

The official said that Customs Intelligence staff has also been deputed on GT road to check the suspect vehicles, which were used to smuggle the non-duty paid items.
