Customs Intelligence detects mis-declaration of Kerosene oil worth Rs20m

MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Range Office has detected mis-declaration of kerosene oil under the garb of white spirit of worth Rs.20 million.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Abdul Mueed Kanjoo received credible information from their source that specific group is involved in the import of Kerosene under garb of White Spirit.

They said Kerosene oil was sold out in the local markets of Multan and Customs Intelligence found that the mis-declaration was done on huge scale and this illegal kerosene oil was transported to other cities of the country. Customs Intelligence and Investigation has conducted thorough investigations after finding clue of mis-declaration and Deputy Director Abdul Mueed investigate it further to reveal the facts.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation intercepted the white spirit consignment on the information of informer where importer produces the import documents to customs teams. During examination customs team took the sample of White Spirit for laboratory examination and after the chemical examination it was found that import item was Kerosene oil but importer has declared it White Spirit.

Customs teams came to know to that importer had mis-declared the massive quantity of Kerosene oil under the garb of White Spirit from Karachi Port. Importer is selling Kerosene oil illegally in the various parts of the country by causing huge loss of national exchequer.

Sources told that legally marketing companies (OMCs) are authorized to import Kerosene iil in the country but importer have misguided the Customs authorities at the time of clearance.

Deputy Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan Abdul Mueed Kanjoo informed Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi for further action against importer and they seized Kerosene oil of worth Rs20 million in their action against importer.

Sources told that importers have caused massive revenue loss to country in terms of taxes. Further investigations against the illegal imports are still under way.
