Customs Intelligence DG Lutfullah Virk starts 4-day visit to Karachi today

KARACHI: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Director General (DG) Lutfullah Virk is due in Karachi on Thursday.

Sources informed Customs Today that the Intelligence and Investigation DG would convene a series of meetings with customs officers, Rangers DG, Maritime Security Agency DG, Coast Guard DG, ANF Sindh DG and other high officials at the Customs House.

The sources further informed this scribe that DG Lutfullah Virk would also review the performance of Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Karachi, of the last 18 months and evaluate the performance of the Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO) in taking steps for eliminating smuggling.

They further informed that the DG would also check the status of the cases sent to the adjudication collectorate for legal proceedings.

“The officials and officers of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation, Karachi Region, are busy in making presentations in order to brief the DG on steps taken for eradicating the menace of smuggling,” sources added.

The sources further disclosed that Lutfullah Virk will remain in Karachi for four days and during his visit he will convene important meetings and provide guidelines in order to take effective measures against smuggling.

Lutfullah Virk during his visit would also meet the officers and officials of the MCC-Gwadar and take a feedback on anti-smuggling activities being carried out by the collectorate.
