Customs Intelligence-Enforcement enhances scrutiny to stop tax evasion

KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation-Enforcement has started the scrutiny of different consignments on directives of the Director General Imtiaz Ahmed.

According to the source, the Customs Intelligence-Enforcement has tightened the scrutiny of different consignments in order to stop tax evasion and plug the leakages of the revenue.

DG Imtiaz Ahmed, on the directives of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has directed the Enforcement Department to keep an eye on the different consignments, including auto parts, cloth as well as plastic granules consignments, the sources added.

The FBR has received bundles of complains regarding the millions of rupees loss to the country due to tax evasion on the import of different consignments. Taking notice of the complains, the board directed Customs Intelligence Director Imtiaz Ahmed to take stern action against importers those are involving in brining huge losses to national kitty.

The sources said that the officials of the Customs Intelligence-Enforcement were taking measures to detect the tax evaders and bring them to table.

The directorate has started scrutiny of the different consignments imported at Karachi ports. The officers of the enforcement department were not only keeping an eye on the process but also collecting the records of the different consignments including auto parts, cloth and plastic granules, source added.
