Customs Intelligence foils attempt to clear consignments through mis-declaration

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi has thwarted an attempt to clear consignment of 155 kilograms of Ring Travelers through mis-declaration.

Sources told Customs Today that M/s Tex Plus imported consignments of Ring Travelers from Turkey. The company cleared their consignment after payment of duty @$2 while the company bound to pay its duty on the imported consignment @$67. The company caused a loss of Rs 7,463,775 to the national exchequer through mis-declaration.

Sources said that company availed undue benefits and concessions by involving its clearing agent M/s Al Khursheed Customs Clearing Agents. Sources said that after receiving information that above said company tried to clear their consignments through mis-declaration, Customs Intelligence authorities seized the consignments and forwarded its parts to laboratory test.

On the other hand Customs authorities also issued notice to Hammad Akbar Khan son of Tufail Munir Khan to appear before the authorities and explain his position.
