Customs Intelligence foils bid to smuggle LCDs, monitors during checking

FAISALABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation teams confiscated smuggled goods worth Rs 900,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs290,592 during road checking.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence team following the directions of Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain conducted different raids to foil smuggling attempts in the region.

The Customs Intelligence team intercepted a trailer bearing registration no. TLK- 547 near Canal Road, Faisalabad loaded with 149 pieces of foreign origin, LCDs, monitors of different brand and size.

The officials asked the driver Muhammad Rafique son of Rab Nawaz to produce legal documents regarding possession and transportation of loaded goods but he remained failed to show any relevant legal documents.

The Customs Intelligence team seized the goods and forwarded the case to Customs Adjudication authorities for further proceedings and action.

It is necessary to mention here that customs authorities expedited their efforts to curb smuggling in the region and due to their effective strategy marginable decrease is being witnessed in smuggling attempts.
