KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Enforcement has foiled a bid to clear consignments by under-invoicing and mis-declaration and registered a case against a company.
Sources told Customs Today that Customs Intelligence received complaints that some importers are importing Indian origin zeera and causing a loss of million of rupees to the national exchequer.
Sources said that during scrutiny of import data of M/s Hassan International it was revealed that the company imported 32 tons of zeera by declaring its value only $5,000 instead of $27,000. The company also evaded taxes and duty amounting to Rs 800,000 and caused a loss of Rs 4.5 million. After detecting mis-declaration Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered a case against the company and started investigations.
