Customs Intelligence impounds 438 bags of Iranian plastic granules

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence officials seized 438 bags of plastic granules in a raid near Patoki on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off, customs officials raided a godown on the instructions of Additional Director Mohsin Rafique and confiscated a large quantity of Iranian smuggled plastic granules, sources told Customs Today.

Sources said that the total value of the seized items has been calculated at Rs 2 million, involving duty and taxes of Rs 0.6 million.

The sources said the Customs Intelligence lodged an FIR against two accused – Ali Raza and Muhammad Ashraf – but they could not be arrested.

The raid was conducted by Customs Intelligence anti-smuggling team, consisting of inspectors and other officials, under the supervision of Customs Intelligence Superintendents Nasir Minhas, Munawar and Fiaz.

Sources said that team has initiated further investigations in this regard.
