Customs Intelligence impounds BMW car worth Rs 5m

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation has impounded a non-duty paid BMW vehicle worth Rs 5 million during an action.

In pursuance of credible information, the staff Customs Intelligence led by Superintendent Javed Jhangeeri intercepted a BMW car model 2002 with Chassis No WBAGL 42040 DD 78681 (3994-CC) near Police Line Islamabad.

On demand, the driver produced copies of documents showing clearance of car from Karachi Customs House under amnesty scheme, 2013, but no entry was found in the relevant computerised data.

Therefore, the vehicle was impounded under Section 17 of the Customs Act, 1969 for further investigation of its legal imports/payment of duty/taxes and lab test etc.

Customs Intelligence and Investigation acting Director General Muhammad Saleem appreciated the performance of officials through a letter and many other high officials of the said department also gave highly appreciated remarks on successful interception of BMW car.
