Customs Intelligence impounds container loaded with contraband items

LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate has impounded a container loaded with goods and articles on Multan Road. The container was cleared from Karachi.

Sources said that the goods were cleared from Karachi on wrong information and were destined to be dumped on Hall Road Market of electronics goods.

It was said that the customs intelligence received information that traders on Hall Road have managed to clear the goods on wrong information and mis-declaration from Karachi.

Sources said that the Hall Road trader Adil was the owner of the container and intended to dump the goods avoiding duty and taxes on the goods and articles. The container was loaded with printers, laptop chargers LCDs and other such accessories.

The customs source said that the customs officials have registered a case against smugglers and started further investigation in to the matter to reach to other accused involved.
