ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation team has impounded a non duty paid Toyota Hiace van. The van was imported as ambulance by M/s Al-Rehman Welfare Trust, Lahore.
According to sources special car cell received information that a Toyota Hiace Van bearing registration no LES 11- 1345 was imported as ambulance by Al-Rehaman Trust and presently used as commuter public service van plying in the vicinity of municipal limits of Islamabad by violating the purpose of import as ambulance as described in Import Policy Order, 2013 and relevant provision of law issued under SRO 567.
Acting on information the staff of special car cell Directorate General Islamabad intercepted the Toyota Hiace van chassis no. RZH1120040509, engine No.1RZ1239549 Model 1996 (1998 cc) at Sector H-8 near Beacon House School, Islamabad.
At the time of interception, the occupant of vehicle Muhammad Naeem failed to provide any legal documents regarding misuse of the facility provided under the relevant provision of law.
The staff of special car cell has seized the vehicle under the relevant provision of the Customs Act, 1969 for violating the provisions of S No. 23 of part ll, Appendix- B of Import Policy order 2016 and SRO 567 (1) 2006 as amended SRO 574 (1) 2012.
