LAHORE: Customs Intelligence and Investigations (I&I) Monday seized Mercedes Benz from Gulberg worth Rs 12 million after the driver failed to produce documents of the legal import of the vehicle.
The Customs I&I sources said that on information the Customs I&I Car Cell intercepted a Mercedes Benz car BFN-498 near Ghalib Market in Gulberg which was being driven by one Muhammad Ramzan a resident of Kasur.
The sources said that the vehicle was registered in Karachi Excise and Taxation department but it was not being shown in Lahore Customs system and thus the customs authorities being satisfied that the car was illegally imported impounded and took it to the Customs I&I Allama Iqbal Town to confiscate in state’s right.
The sources said that the authorities registering a case under Customs Act 1969 and started further investigations to reach to the original owner of the Mercedes Benz seized under Customs Act.
It was said that the car was in black color in good condition besides it was confiscated on the directions of Director Saud Imran Ahmad by the Car Cell anti-smuggling team.
