ISLAMABAD: Customs Intelligence and Investigation team impounded a non-duty paid Toyota Altis car model-2004 worth Rs1 million in Rawalpindi during an operation.
According to details, Customs Intelligence received a tip-off about a non-duty paid car. The customs team followed the lead and intercepted a Toyota Altis car model-2004 having chassis no: MR053ZEC 107056088 at Cantonment area near 502-Workshop Rawalpindi. The customs team asked the possessor of the car to show the legal documents regarding possession of the car. The driver was identified as Muhammad Umar son of Raja Waqar Ahmed a resident of Gulshanabad, Rawalpindi. The driver failed to provide required legal documents.
The sources told Customs Today that the car was bearing a fake registration no which was confirmed by computerized data of registered vehicles of Motor Registration Authority (MRA).
After this confirmation, the customs team registered a case against the possessor and impounded the vehicle and forwarded the case to Customs Investigation and Prosecution department for further proceeding.
