LAHORE: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence Lahore seized huge quantity of narcotics being transported to Lahore from Peshawar.
On a tip-off, Director I&I Rubab Sikandar informed Deputy Director Usman Tariq regarding smuggling of contraband goods. The I&I team intercepted a car bearing registration no. MNA-07-5391 on Motorway. On checking, 8.5kg charas and 1.3kg opium were recovered in the cavity created in the fuel tank of the vehicle. A person namely Abdul Sattar transporting narcotics has been arrested.
After initial investigation, it was found that charas was being smuggled from Peshawar to Lahore. Market value of the narcotics is estimated at Rs15 million. FIR has been registered against accused Gul Khan. Further investigations are underway.
