ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered 1,236 cases involving Rs 4.765 billion till May, 2016 in country as compare to 1,193 cases worth Rs 4 billion made during same corresponding period of last financial year 2014-15.
Under the supervision of Director General Imtiaz Ahmad Khan, the directorate detected more cases than the previous year by launching an anti-smuggling campaign, the officials said, adding that the staff was working efficiently to curb the smuggling.
They added that numerous cases of drug smuggling and money laundering were made during the said period of running year all over the country.
They informed that the directorate registered 1088 cases worth Rs 3210 million during 2013-14, 930 cases involving Rs 2370 million during 2012-13, 1014 cases valued at Rs 1758 million during 2011-12 and 1017 cases worth Rs 1668 million during fiscal year 2010-11.
