Customs Intelligence makes 23 cases of narcotics till May, 2016

ISLAMABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation made 23 cases of narcotics and arrested five smugglers till May 2016, while it made 16 cases and apprehended four suspects during the same period of last year.

Sources said that the Customs Intelligence confiscated 12.5 kilogram of heroin from June to May this year while it seized 62kg heroin during last year. It also confiscated 4,694.5kg charas in running year and 11,960kg during last year.

The sources further disclose that the directorate seized opium weighing 35kg in fiscal year 2015-16, while in FY2014-15, it captured 20.65kg. The directorate also seized 38,525kg poppy seeds in last year and seized 40,550kg seeds in current financial year.
